Job summary

WalterFedy in Kitchener, Ontario, seeks a Civil Designer/Technologist to assist in developing and preparing engineering designs for private, land, and municipal projects using Civil 3D and AutoCAD. You will produce accurate drawings and maintain technical files under supervision.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Civil Engineering Technology program.
• Experience in grading, servicing, and plan/profile drawings.
• Knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Experience in land development, site plan and/or municipal design preferred.
• Registered or eligible for registration with OACETT.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering designs and drawings from concepts using Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and related software.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and team members to develop design solutions meeting client requirements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure work products meet high-quality standards and comply with established guidelines.
• Perform basic calculations and analysis related to grading, drainage, utilities, and other civil design aspects.
• Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and data.
• Support the preparation of permit applications, environmental assessments, and other project documentation.
• Maintain organized project files and documentation per company standards.
• Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies as needed.
• Stay informed about industry trends and Civil 3D/AutoCAD advancements.
• Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members.

Role at a Glance

The Civil Designer/Technologist is responsible for assisting in the development and preparation of engineering designs for private, land, and municipal development projects, utilizing AutoCAD and Civil3D, and ensuring design drawings conform to specifications and design data. Responsibilities include preparing construction drawings in compliance with established codes and standards, generating accurate plans and details with guidance from project managers and engineers, and maintaining technical files. Attention to detail is essential to ensure work meets high-quality standards and adheres to Civil 3D/AutoCAD guidelines. This role involves completing assigned tasks in Civil 3D and/or AutoCAD under the supervision of more experienced team members.

This role is based in-office and is open to applicants interested in working at our Kitchener office.

• Assistin the preparation of engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specificationsheetsand other data with minimal supervision usingCivil 3D,AutoCAD,and other design software

What you bring to the table

• Graduate of Civil EngineeringTechnology program.
• Previousexperience working in a consulting engineering environment would be an asset (including co-op).
• Knowledgeable in the preparation of grading, servicing, and plan/profile drawings.
• Experience and knowledge in Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
• Experience in landdevelopment,siteplan,and/ormunicipaldesign is preferred.
• Registered or eligible for registration with OACETT.
• A team player with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Eager to learn and take on new challenges, with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed
