Job summary

The Salvation Army in Ottawa is seeking a temporary Administrative Support Worker to assist the Toy Mountain campaign during the Christmas season. Responsibilities include overseeing the Toy Mountain mailbox, coordinating volunteers, and supporting toy distribution and registrations.

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break. The role supports a seasonal program within a faith-based organization that values service and community impact.

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Christmas Toy Shop Administrative Support Worker provides support to the Toy Mountain Campaign during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

Accountabilities

• Overseeing the general mailbox for Toy Mountain.
• Assist with the set-up, take-down and organization of toy distribution program.
• Scheduling and coordinating volunteers for the Toy Mountain warehouse and office space.
• Assist with data base training for office intake, registration and distribution.
• Assist with client registrations and distribution as required.
• Assisting with coordination with program supplies.
• Overseeing the collection of volunteer paperwork.
• Assist with recording statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
• Perform other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a temporary position. Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, include a ½ hour unpaid meal break Work environment is typically in the office. Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs. (15 kg) and up to 100 lbs with assistance The above responsibilities must be performed in keeping with The Salvation Army’s Mission, Vision, and Values, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

Completed High School or equivalent

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

• A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.

• Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Full “G” license considered an asset
• Bilingualism is considered an asset

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
