The Salvation Army Ottawa is seeking a temporary Christmas Toy Shop Worker to support the Community and Family Services during the holiday season. You will help set up and manage toy distribution, assist volunteers, register clients, and process toy donations.

Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: The Christmas Toy Shop Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

Accountabilities

• Assist with the set-up, take-down and organization of toy distribution program.
• Assist with the scheduling and organization tasks of volunteers.
• Assist with client registrations
• Receive and process donations of toys for distribution and provide assistance with packing, counting and sorting toy donations.
• Assist with recording statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
• Receive and process telephone calls from clients requiring assistance.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions

• This is a temporary position.
• Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday.
• Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
• Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
• Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs. (15 kg) and up to 100 lbs with assistance

Education, Qualifications and Certifications

Completed High School or equivalent

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.

• Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
• Full “G” license considered an asset
• Bilingualism is considered an asset
• Experienced in using pallet jack considered an asset

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
