Job summary

Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ Government in Hitacu, BC seeks a Childcare Support Worker to assist with daily supervision and care in the qʷayac̓iikʔiis Childcare Centre, under the direction of ECEs and the Childcare Manager. This on-call/casual role supports safe, engaging environments for children 0-7 and helps with routines, transitions, and positive guidance.

Applicants must meet licensing requirements, have a Responsible Adult course, First Aid/ CPR, a clean criminal record, and be at least 19 years old;

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Responsible Adult course recognized by BC Child Care Licensing
  • First Aid and CPR (Emergency Child Care preferred) certification
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)

Responsibilities

  • Provide active supervision of children to ensure safety and wellbeing
  • Assist with meals, rest time, outdoor play, transitions, and personal care routines
  • Support staff in maintaining staff-to-child ratios per BC licensing
  • Facilitate play-based learning activities and positive interactions
  • Assist with creating safe learning environments and prepare materials
  • Collaborate with ECEs, ECEAs, and other staff to support daily operations
  • Follow safety procedures and report incidents or concerns
