Job summary

YMCA Calgary is seeking a part-time Child Minding Caregiver for our South Locations (Brookfield Residential YMCA Seton, Shawnessy, Remington). Salary ranges from $15.00 to $18.66 per hour with immediate start.

Availability Monday to Saturday, 7:45am–6:30pm across branches, opportunities to work in preschool programs, and a supportive team culture. Benefits include complimentary YMCA membership (linked for dependents), program discounts, and ongoing leadership development.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young children aged 6 weeks – 9 years.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative teamwork.
  • Education in Early Childhood Education is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including computer literacy.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C within last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent service by responding to the needs of children and parents/guardians.
  • Support children's social and self-regulation development and milestones.
  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate play-based activities.
  • Maintain health and safety standards and a clean environment.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and represent YMCA Calgary.
  • Engage in YMCA initiatives.

Child Minding Caregiver (Part Time)

YMCA Calgary South Locations - (Brookfield Residential YMCA at Seton, Shawnessy YMCA, Remington YMCA)

Salary: $15.00/hour - $18.66/hour

Start Date: Immediately

*The succesfull candidate must have availability between Monday - Saturday with hours ranging between 7:45am - 6:30pm at all 3 south branches.

What qualifications are we looking for?

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

This position is part-time, and hours scheduled will vary based on area need. The child minding caregiver may be eligible to work in multiple locations as well as with YMCA Calgary’s preschool programs, utilizing YMCA Calgary’s regional model.

YMCA Child Minding is offered 7-days per week during daytime and early evening hours. Flexibility of the successful applicant’s personal schedule is required in order to ensure area needs are met. Additional hours to meet training requirements will also be scheduled.

Reporting to the Childminding Team Lead, the Child Minding Caregiver will:

  • Ensure the delivery of excellent service by identifying and responding in a professional and timely manner to the needs and wants of children and parents/guardians
  • Support young children with social and self-regulation skill development, personal care needs and to achieve developmental milestones
  • Plan and facilitate intentional, developmentally appropriate play-based learning activities
  • Maintain health and safety measures including child safety & protection standards, health management and the provision of a safe and clean environment
  • Establish and maintain effective communication standards with stakeholders and professionally represent YMCA Calgary both internally and with the broader community
  • Engage with, and support as appropriate, YMCA initiatives
