Overview
This is a strategic leadership role for a rapidly growing staffing and workforce solutions company. The CFO will be a key member of the executive team, overseeing all financial operations and helping scale the organization.
Role Description The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive team, responsible for strategic financial planning, cash flow management, risk management, compliance, and reporting. The CFO will support business expansion, vendor and client negotiations, corporate structuring, and profitability optimization.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO / COO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s growth strategy.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive long-term profitability and scalability.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
- Oversee accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions by department.
- Manage cash flow, capital planning, and working capital requirements (including factoring, payables, and receivables).
- Optimize corporate structure for tax efficiency (Canada), including Holdco setups, cross-border considerations, and shareholder loans.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with CRA, WSIB, HST, and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk management practices including insurance, contracts, and vendor agreements.
- Support corporate governance, board reporting, and lender relations.
- Operational Excellence
- Build and manage financial systems, controls, and KPIs for a high-growth staffing business.
- Negotiate vendor and client contracts to maximize margin and reduce risk exposure.
- Oversee financial technology stack, ensuring automation and efficiency.
- Manage and mentor the finance team (controllers, accountants, payroll staff).
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and recruiting teams to align financial goals with business performance.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years at a senior executive level.
- Prior experience in staffing, recruitment, or a services-based industry is a strong asset, however not mandatory.
- Deep understanding of cash flow management, factoring, payroll funding, and complex payables / receivables cycles.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian corporate tax and cross-border structuring (US expansion knowledge an asset).
- Proven track record of strategic financial leadership in a high-growth environment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary ($160,000 – $200,000 depending on experience).
- Performance-based bonus tied to company profitability and growth.
