Company Introduction :

KAPP Infrastructure is a Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects. We deliver marquee projects in key markets including water distribution, hydro, underground works, large bridge structures, and other major civil works. Work in these markets is delivered in all geographies throughout Ontario and should be thought to include not only traditional project delivery, but all alternative modes such as DB, CMCG and EPCM. We are conveniently located in Vaughan close to the 407 and 427 directly off Highway 50.

The Role :

Reporting to the VP, Business Development and the President, the Chief Estimator is fully responsible for leading a group of estimators. They are responsible for making estimates for proposals, bids, along with current projects in progress (when requested by operations). The Chief Estimator is responsible for ensuring that the estimators in the group complete the bids they are working on by the date required for management review.

Here is what you will focus on :

Operational Management

• Supervise all Estimators.
• Implement, revise, and update estimating data libraries.
• Manage bid priorities by considering the division's strategic direction.
• Establish the bidding schedule.
• Assess workload.
• Identify the risks, opportunities and constraints for all tenders and proposals.
• Develop and refine subcontracting strategies.
• Confirm costs related to quantities prepared by estimators.
• Lead the file transfer meeting to operations when the contracts are awarded.
• Prepare the bid review.
• Establish relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Participate in meetings for the start-up of service offers and follow-up executive meetings.
• Liaise, communicate, and meet deadlines among stakeholders.
• Ensure the quality of bids.
• Ensure compliance with ISO processes.
• Participate in the closing of bids.
• Be aware of upcoming projects to plan the workload.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering and / or a combination of equivalent experience & training.
• Be a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (preferred) or C.E.T.
• Have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in estimating major projects not limited to sewer, watermain, roads and bridges in urban environments.
• Have relevant experience in carrying out large-scale projects of more than $30 million.
