Job summary

West Fraser is seeking a Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic for our Chetwynd operations in British Columbia. This on-site role requires journeyperson certification and the ability to service large industrial equipment used in lumber manufacture.

You will inspect, repair, and maintain fleet equipment, reading manuals and schematics as needed, with emphasis on hydraulics, electrical systems, and safety. Relocation support is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Valid journeyperson mechanic certification.
• Read and interpret manuals and schematics.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Commitment to safety and safe workplace practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment such as log loaders, wheel loaders, forklifts, and other mobile gear.
• Ensure quality and safety standards in production environments.
• Maintain documentation and high standards of service.

You'll Do:

• Perform a variety of tasks related to the safe and efficient application of the technical skills and knowledge of a Heavy Duty Mechanic
• Duties involve the repair and maintenance of industrial equipment such as Log loaders, Wheel Loaders, Forklifts, and other mobile equipment used in the manufacture of lumber.
• Continually ensuring the quality and standards of service to safety and production are maintained.

You have:

• A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson mechanic certification
• Ability to read manuals and schematics
• Proven working knowledge of Hydraulics and electrical systems
• Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Organizational and planning skills
• Flexible schedule for day, evening and weekend shifts
• Experience working in a fleet shop
• Cummins and Cat engine experience
