Job summary

West Fraser’s West Pine division in Quesnel, BC seeks an Electrician Certified to maintain and optimize electrical systems across manufacturing equipment. You will troubleshoot PLCs, HMI, and motor controls while upholding safety standards.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will read schematics, implement preventative maintenance, and contribute to downtime reduction. Relocation support is offered, with shifts including days, evenings, graveyard, and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson electrical certification required.
  • Read blueprints/plans and schematics.
  • Strong electrical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Commitment to safety and clean working environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work day, evening, graveyard and weekend shifts.
  • Experience in forest products an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure operation of electrical systems by performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting across manufacturing equipment and control systems.
  • Repair/replace faulty electrical components such as transformers, motors, and lighting.
  • Control downtime through continuous improvement of equipment performance.
  • Prepare maintenance reports by analyzing data and identifying trends.
  • Make recommendations for improvements and safety.
  • Maintain documentation as required by Electrical Safety Authority.
  • Perform quality checks on all work performed.

Description

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our West Pine division, in Quesnel BC, is currently recruiting for an Electrician Certified position.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the preferred candidate is an Industrial Electrician with a good understanding of process systems, PLC Controls, HMI Programming, and motor control systems. Attention to safety and efficiency is a must. Good interpersonal and communication skills are also essential to working in our team environment.

  • Ensuring the operation of electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting problems on all manufacturing equipment programmable controllers, transformers, and machinery wiring; following electrical codes, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications
  • Repairing and replacing as necessary, electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring, inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery
  • Controlling downtime by continual improvement on all manufacturing equipment
  • Preparing electrical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
  • Making recommendations as necessary for improvements
  • Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety practices and use of personal protective equipment
  • Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results
  • Maintaining documentation as required by Electrical Safety Authority
  • Performing systematic quality checks on all work performed

You have:

  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Electrical Certification
  • Ability to read blue prints, plans and schematics
  • Electrical aptitude and excellent problem solving skills
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe work place
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Flexible schedule in order to work day, evening, graveyard and weekend shifts

Considered strong assets:

  • Previous experience working in forest products
  • A Red Seal Certificate
  • A thorough understanding of Allen Bradley Servo Drives, VFD Drives, HMI programming Controllogix PLCs and hydraulics systems.

Compensation Package:

  • The hourly pay rate for this position may vary depending on experience, education and location.
