Job summary

West Fraser seeks a skilled Millwright for our Chetwynd Forest Industries site in British Columbia. You will perform preventative maintenance, repair conveyors, drive systems, and hydraulic equipment, while following SOPs and lockout procedures.

Relocation assistance is available and the role requires flexibility for day, night and weekend shifts. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, pension, life and disability insurance, plus holidays and vacation.

Responsibilities

• Work in a safe manner using SOPs, lockouts and protocols, and completing PTHAs.
• Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, belt/chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery during assembly, installation, setup and repair.
• Work in man-lifts with fall protection equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems, pumps, valves and cylinders.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment.

You’ll Do:

• Work in a safe manner using established SOPs, following all lockouts and protocols, and completing PTHAs.
• Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, various belt and chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set‑up and repair of equipment and machinery.
• Work in man-lifts with the use of fall protection equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of hydraulic systems, pumps, valves and cylinders.
• Work positively in a team environment.

You have:

• Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace.
• Sawmill experience is an asset.
• A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or a Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4 th
• Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible schedule for workdays, nights, and weekend shifts.
