Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Coquitlam, BC, is seeking Certified Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to join our team on a day shift, Monday to Friday.

You will inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of trucks and heavy-duty equipment to keep them safe and reliable for community service. Role requires Red Seal as a Heavy Duty Mechanic and at least 1 year post-certification experience; strong diagnostic and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic is required.
• At least 1 year of post-certification experience is preferred.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and follow repair manuals and work orders.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel, CNG, gas, and electric trucks and heavy-duty equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and document findings.
• Complete work orders, order parts, and track repairs in M5 planner.
• Utilize power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs.
• Review mechanical write-ups and schedule repairs.
• Work independently and as part of a team of technicians.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel, CNG, gas, and electric trucks, as well as related heavy-duty equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and document findings

What You Bring

• Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (required)
• Minimum 1 year of post-certification experience (asset if more)
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and follow repair manuals, work orders, and safety procedures
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs., kneel, crawl, and work in varied conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes)
