Job summary

Interior Health in Penticton is seeking a Casual Patient Registration Clerk at Penticton Regional Hospital. This role supports admissions with patient interviews, documents, and registration.

You will work rotating shifts including days, evenings and nights, with 0–37.5 hours weekly, on short notice cover and leave coverage. The position offers competitive wages, shift premiums, employer-paid training, and an Employee & Family Assistance Program.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Two years; recent related experience, or an equal mix of education/training/experience.
• Typing test at 45 wpm within the past 48 months from a recognized institution.

Responsibilities

• Complete Patient Registration documentation for admissions by interviewing patients/relatives to obtain personal information and proof of eligibility.
• Explain Admission forms, eligibility policies, room differentials and obtain signatures as required.
• Identify available bed booking options and communicate them.
• Receive payments and issue receipts.
• Receive and record patient valuables for safekeeping.
• Transport patients to ward or arrange transport as needed.
• Perform hospital switchboard duties; handle inquiries and directions for visitors.
• Monitor hospital alarms and respond to fire alarms via Public Address system.
