Job summary

Interior Health Authority is seeking a Casual Patient Registration Clerk at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, BC. The role involves interviewing patients and families to complete registration, guiding visitors, and handling calls and alarm responses.

Qualifications

• Typing test 45+ NWPM within the past 48 months (from a recognized institution).
• Medical Terminology Certificate.
• Resume outlining two years’ recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Cover Letter stating availability to start and on-call, casual work (days of the week).

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, relatives and/or friends to obtain information for Patient Registration documentation.
• Identifies available bed booking options as requested.
• Provides information and directions to visitors and handles telephone inquiries (e.g., patient room numbers, visiting hours).
• Responds to alarm panels following established procedures.

Hours of work are rotating days/nights; 07:00 to 15:00, 08:00 to 16:00, 08:30 to 16:30, 07:30 to 19:30, 19:30 to 07:30

What will you work on?

This position interviews patients, relatives and/or friends to obtain information required to complete the Patient Registration documentation and performs other related clerical duties. Identifies available bed booking options as requested. Provides information and directions to visitors and handles telephone inquiries such as patient room numbers and visiting hours. Responds to alarm panels by making announcements and/or telephone calls in accordance with the established procedures.

What should your application include?

• A 5-minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted).
• A Medical Terminology Certificate
• Your Resume outlining two year’s recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
• A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week).
