Job summary

Anglophone North School District is seeking to fill casual custodian positions for evening shifts in public schools. Duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting and polishing, cleaning washrooms, windows, and lights, and maintaining floors and furnishings.

You may be called on an as-needed basis to replace regular custodians. Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, be in good physical condition, and meet the specific education/experience notes in the posting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school, or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, supplemented by an employer-approved training program.
• Good physical condition is required.
• Casual Custodian position may accept Grade 10 education plus Two (2) years of custodial experience.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub floors, wax and polish floors and furniture.
• Clean washrooms and replace washroom supplies; clean windows, lights and walls.
• Shovel snow, remove ice from entrances, maintain school grounds, mow lawns.
• Ensure security of school premises when not in use; perform other related duties as required.

Job description

This is custodial work in the cleaning and care of public schools, primarily during the evening shift. Work involves maintaining assigned premises in a clean and orderly condition. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and scrubbing floors, waxing, and polishing floors and furniture, cleaning washrooms, and replacing washroom supplies, cleaning windows, lights, and walls. Work also involves shoveling snow, removing ice from school entrances, maintaining school grounds, mowing lawns, and generally assuring the security of school premises while they are not in use. Other related duties as required.

This is not for permanent employment. The names of successful applicants (once trained) will be placed on a replacement custodian list and will be called to work on an as-required basis.

Graduation from high school, or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, supplemented by an employer-approved training program. Good physical condition is required.
