Job summary

Livingstone Range School Division is accepting applications for Casual Custodians. Casual Custodian may be called to cover absences, assist in projects, or cover events in evenings or weekends. Must communicate positively with staff and the public, and work unsupervised.

Typical duties include cleaning washrooms, desks, windows; mopping and vacuuming; securing buildings; snow/ice removal; and handling chemicals. A police check is required before employment.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated initiative and good judgement.
• Ability to build positive relations with staff that values a team environment.
• Capable of working alone and with minimum supervision.
• Organize work and adjust daily routine as conditions require.
• Capable of performing routine and repetitive tasks daily.
• Display a good working knowledge of chemicals/procedures used by caretaking staff.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning thoroughly all washrooms, fixtures, and partitions.
• Washing of all desks, counters, doors, windows, etc.
• All dusting in the school.
• Mopping, vacuuming, and waxing of floors.
• Securing of Division buildings.
• Garbage collection and removal.
• Preventative maintenance – tightening furniture or changing light bulbs.
• Snow and ice removal from walkways.

Livingstone Range School Division

Livingstone Range School Division is accepting applications for Casual Custodians. A Casual Custodian may be called to cover full-time or part-time absences, assist in projects, or cover extracurricular events such as tournaments that may happen in the evening or on weekends.

The Casual Custodian must be able to communicate and interact positively with the public, co-workers, staff, and administration to ensure all needs are addressed at the site. Casual Custodians must be able to work unsupervised.

Casual Custodian work may include physical demands, e.g., lifting chairs, moving furniture or boxes of materials, cleaning equipment, and climbing stairs/ladders. The daily work routine involves the use of various chemicals.

Typical duties of a Casual Custodian include but are not limited to:

• Cleaning thoroughly all washrooms, fixtures, and partitions

This position will report to the Health and Safety Coordinator. The ability to work independently and secure the facilities is essential.

Conditions of Employment

• A satisfactory police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment.
