Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company of Canada, Limited currently seeks a Climbing Arborist to work on-site across Ontario locations. You will be in the field, up canopy level, performing pruning, installation of support systems and operating heavy equipment while engaging with the public and ensuring timely, quality work.

We value certified arborists or those willing to pursue certification, with emphasis on safety, tree and shrub identification, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of climbing experience.
• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and Airbrake endorsement preferred, climbing experience will be considered if candidate does not have DZ.
• Understanding and implementation of the process of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights.
• Certified Arborist or willingness to work towards.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Preferred background in Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping.

Responsibilities

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood in the canopy of the trees at various heights.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
