Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a Climbing Arborist. You will be in the canopy most of the day, performing hands-on tree and vegetation management and interacting with the public.

You will prune, install cables and braces, operate chainsaws, chippers and lifts, and support the foreperson with setup and cleanup. A valid driver's license and at least 1 year climbing experience are required; certification as an arborist is preferred.

Qualifications

• Safe ascent to tree canopies at all heights.
• At least 1 year climbing experience.
• Certified Arborist or working toward certification.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Valid provincial driver's license; 5-ton vehicle license and Airbrake considered an asset.
• Forestry, Horticulture or Landscaping background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prune, thin, and remove deadwood in the canopy of trees at various heights.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Properly maintain, prepare, and operate tools including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey safety policies and procedures.
