Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company of Canada, Limited is seeking a Climbing Arborist to work in Hamilton, Ontario. You will be in the field, up in the canopy, performing pruning, cabling and other vegetation management tasks while engaging with the public and applying expert knowledge to complete jobs accurately and on time.

You will operate chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and related equipment, adhere to safety policies, and collaborate with the crew.

Qualifications

• Ability to safely ascend tree canopies at all heights.
• Minimum 1 year of climbing experience.
• Certified Arborist or willingness to work toward certification.
• Valid provincial driver’s license; license to drive a 5-ton vehicle considered an asset.
• Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills.

Responsibilities

• Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood in the canopy of trees at various heights.
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Assist the trimmers and foreperson in job site setup, debris removal and cleanup.
• Abide by Davey safety policies and procedures.
