Job summary

Algo+ USA is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to own Canadian payroll and benefits administration with global exposure. You will manage end-to-end payroll, enrollments, reconciliations, and year-end activities, while liaising with vendors and improving processes.

You’ll operate with strong ownership, solve complex problems, and continuously optimize our payroll and HRIS workflows, supported by the People Operations Lead and HR team.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in payroll and/or benefits administration, ideally with Canadian payroll.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines without detail loss.
• Ownership mindset: work independently and deliver high quality results.
• Comfort with ambiguity and bias toward improving processes.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to learn new HRIS/payroll platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end processing of Canadian payroll each cycle, compliant with federal and provincial requirements.
• Process payroll changes (new hires, terminations, salary changes, bonuses, leaves) and ensure accuracy in the pay run.
• Reconcile payroll data, investigate discrepancies, and prepare reporting for Finance.
• Support year-end activities: T4s, ROEs, and W-2 coordination as needed.
• Act as liaison with payroll vendors and external partners.
• Monitor payroll legislation changes and flag compliance risks.
• Administer employee enrollments, life-event changes, and terminations across benefit plans.
• Reconcile vendor invoices with payroll and HRIS records; resolve mismatches.
• Be first point of contact for coverage, enrollment, and deductions questions.
• Coordinate open enrollment logistics and craft clear communications for employees.
• Maintain benefits data across BambooHR and vendor platforms; run audits.
• Maintain audit-ready employee records and onboarding/offboarding data in BambooHR.
• Create simple checklists and trackers for recurring cycles; improve processes.
