They also provide materials such as titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, copper, nickel alloys, high purity aluminum, and specialty steels for various industries including aerospace, nuclear, and mining. With extensive extrusion capabilities and on-site equipment for non-destructive testing, Nu-Tech is dedicated to high-quality metal production.

Position Summary:

This dual-role position combines the responsibilities of a Calibration Technician with those of a Quality Control Inspector, focusing on incoming materials, in-process quality, and final product inspection. The individual will ensure the accuracy and reliability of measuring and test equipment (M&TE) through calibration, while also performing inspections to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards. This role is crucial for maintaining product quality, meeting customer requirements, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities (Calibration):

  • Calibration Execution: Perform calibrations on a variety of dimensional and electrical M&TE.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate calibration records, certificates, data sheets, and equipment history, compliant with quality system requirements (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Standards Management: Maintain and manage calibration standards, ensuring traceability to national or international standards.
  • Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on M&TE, troubleshooting malfunctions and identifying root causes.

Responsibilities (Quality Control Inspection):

  • Incoming Inspection: Inspect incoming materials and components, verifying conformance to specifications, drawings, and purchase orders. Document inspection results and identify non-conformances.
  • In-Process Inspection: Perform in-process quality control checks, ensuring product quality throughout the manufacturing process. Monitor production processes and identify potential quality issues.
  • Final Inspection: Conduct final inspections of finished goods, verifying compliance with all applicable standards, specifications, and customer requirements before shipment.
  • Non-Conformance Reporting: Document and report non-conformances, initiating corrective actions and collaborating with relevant departments to resolve quality issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Post secondary education in a technical field (e.g., metrology, quality control, or technology) or experience in similar work will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as a calibration technician and/or quality control inspector, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Skills (Calibration):
    • Strong understanding of calibration principles and techniques.
    • Proficiency in using various types of M&TE.
    • Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Skills (Quality Control):
    • Knowledge of quality control principles and techniques.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
    • Proficient in using various inspection tools and techniques.
    • Experience with use of a CMM, especially a FARO arm, would be an asset.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify non-conformances.
    • Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • General Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Familiarity with relevant software and use of computers (e.g., calibration management software, quality management systems) would be an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple shifts.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
