Job summary

Lake Shore Gold is seeking a Cage Tender to join the Bell Creek Mine team in Porcupine, ON on a full-time basis. The schedule is 5-5-4, 12 hr shifts. You will operate the Cage to convey workers, material, and explosives underground and assist in shaft repairs.

The ideal candidate has experience with rock breakers and loading pocket systems, a safety-first mindset, and a willingness to relocate to the Timmins area. The position offers a competitive hourly salary and comprehensive benefits.

• Experience operating rock breakers and loading pocket systems.
• Previous experience is an asset.
• High level of safety-consciousness.
• Well-developed planning skills to reduce timeframes transporting workers and materials.
• Practice good housekeeping.
• Be committed to safety.
• Basic UG Hard Rock Common Core is required.
• Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

About the Organization

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

The Bell Creek Complex located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

About The Opportunity

We are looking to hire a Cage Tender to join our team at the Bell Creek Mine in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule is 5-5-4, 12 hr shifts.

The role of the Cage Tender requires to operate the Cage safely to convey workers, material, and explosives underground. The ideal candidate must have well-developed planning skills in order to reduce the amount of lost time when transporting workers and materials. You must be able to operate the Rock Breaker and Loading Pocket systems, assist in performing rope and conveyance maintenance and inspect and assist in performing mine shaft repairs including timber and rock repairs.

Compensation: This position offers a base salary range of $32.95 - $43.50 hourly, based on qualifications and experience.

Vacancy Status: This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.
