Position Summary

Thales requires a Buyer to be involved with and responsible for the transactional procurement process of RFX, Purchase Requisition, and Purchase Order (PR/PO) lifecycle. The buyer will expedite, follow-up on purchase orders to ensure delivery supporting internal priorities and quality requirements are met in accordance with issued terms and conditions. The role involves driving continuous improvement of supplier performance and commodity cost, collaborating with project management and senior leaders to achieve business outcomes, and owning all aspects of part management related to sourcing. The candidate should have a strong foundation of procurement skills and knowledge of sourcing concepts, ensuring effective and timely purchasing activities to support an uninterrupted flow of goods and services.

Key Areas of Responsibility
  1. Lead weekly fulfillment activities, mentor other buyers, and manage the fulfillment process from order creation to invoice. Manage RFx under delegated thresholds and local negotiations.
  2. Transform purchase requisitions into purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of details, and meet with project teams regularly to review priorities and status.
  3. Engage with suppliers to acknowledge POs, ensure delivery commitments, follow-up, expedite orders, manage disputes, and report procurement issues. Prepare reports on purchases and conduct cost analysis for strategic planning.
  4. Work within an integrated team, maintain supplier relationships, coordinate with project planning, and support KPIs in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager.
  5. Monitor performance according to industry best practices, proactively enhance team performance, and support SAP functionality improvements.
  6. Support compliance with ISO quality standards and defense regulations, maintain ethical relationships, and assist with procurement department activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of relevant supply chain experience.
  • Experience with contract terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong team and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of export regulations is an asset.

Special Position Requirements
  • Hybrid work model (home and office).
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, with flexible core hours between 9 am-3 pm, accommodating project needs and global time zones.
