Senior Buyer (Technical & Resource Support D) - Vancouver School Board

The Vancouver School Board invites applications for the position of Senior Buyer (Technical & Resource Support D).

Location: 1580 West Broadway

Department: Purchasing and Administrative Services Division

Salary: $39.79 per hour, 7 hours/day, 5 days/week + extensive benefits package & municipal pension plan

Position Overview

In this role, you will:

1. Provide technical and resource support to the division
2. Manage procurement processes for various commodities
3. Prepare specifications and contract documents for competitive procurements
4. Negotiate contracts and place orders
5. Maintain vendor files and procurement records
6. Monitor market conditions and advise on price trends
7. Prepare cost estimates
8. Coordinate with other departments on budgets
9. Supervise a small team
10. Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or equivalent
• At least 4 years of related supply chain experience or equivalent education and experience
• Experience in public sector procurement preferred
• Strong judgment, decision-making, and communication skills
• Proficiency in ERP systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel
• Ability to pass written assessment
