Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of enterprise SDR/BDR/MDR experience, ideally calling into enterprise accounts.
  • A track record of hitting or exceeding pipeline/meeting quotas.
  • Comfort and confidence engaging senior stakeholders, including C-level and security leaders (CISOs).
  • A competitive, driven mindset — you love to win, and you love winning as part of a team.
  • A creative, go-getter attitude with a strong bias for action — comfortable operating without a fully built-out playbook.

  • Follow up on three-dimensional direct mail campaigns and convert interest into qualified opportunities.
  • Own and consistently hit a monthly qualified meeting goal.
  • Partner with the sales team on outbound prospecting within ICP through research and outreach.
  • Research target accounts and personas (CISOs and security leaders) to personalize outreach and qualify fit.
  • Log activity and qualification notes in CRM and sales tools.
  • Work with Marketing and Sales to give feedback on lead quality and campaign performance.

Job description

Role-Business Development Representative

About CYGNVS

CYGNVS is the out-of-band command center for cyber and AI incident response, trusted by more than 3,000 organizations across 71 countries. Backed by Andreessen Horowitz and other top investors, we're a fast-growing startup defining a new market at the intersection of cybersecurity, AI and crisis response — and building our team from the ground up to do it. It's a rare opportunity to join early, make a real impact, and grow your career as we scale.

The Opportunity

We're hiring our inaugural Business Development Representative (BDR) team — four BDRs plus a BDR Manager. This is a founding team opportunity: you'll help define how the function runs, not just execute an existing playbook. We're looking for people who are driven, competitive, love to win, and want to build something from scratch alongside a tight-knit team.

The BDR is a quota-carrying, front-line role responsible for turning marketing-generated interest into qualified sales opportunities. You'll work leads from multiple sources, including inbound web inquiries, event contacts, and direct mail responses, and convert them into meetings for our sales team. You'll also partner with sales on outbound prospecting into our target account list, independent of marketing-sourced content.

What You'll Do

  • Follow up on and develop inbound marketing leads (website inquiries, content downloads, form fills) into qualified, sales-ready meetings.
  • Support event strategy end-to-end: help recruit attendees pre-event, potentially staff and work events on-site to generate new contacts, and run structured follow-up afterward to maximize pipeline generated from every event.
  • Follow up on responses to our three-dimensional direct mail campaigns and convert that interest into qualified opportunities.
  • Own and consistently hit a monthly qualified meeting goal.
  • Partner with the sales team on non-marketing-sourced outbound prospecting — building pipeline within our ideal customer profile (ICP) through your own research and outreach.
  • Research target accounts and personas (primarily CISOs and other security/risk leaders at enterprise organizations) to personalize outreach and qualify fit before booking meetings.
  • Log all activity, lead status, and qualification notes accurately in our CRM and sales engagement tools.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Sales to give feedback on lead quality, messaging, and campaign performance.

What We're Looking For

  • 1–2 years of enterprise SDR/BDR/MDR experience, ideally calling into enterprise accounts.
  • A track record of hitting or exceeding pipeline/meeting quotas.
  • Comfort and confidence engaging senior stakeholders, including C-level and security leaders (CISOs), by phone, email, and social.
  • A competitive, driven mindset — you love to win, and you love winning as part of a team.
  • A creative, go-getter attitude with a strong bias for action — comfortable operating without a fully built-out playbook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; sharp objection handling.
  • Willingness to travel to and work industry events as needed.
  • Based in or willing to work from Toronto, with the ability to be in-office 3–4 days per week.

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling into the security/cybersecurity space.
  • Prior experience specifically in enterprise cybersecurity or SaaS sales.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot and Outreach.

Why Join Now

You'll be one of the founding members of the CYGNVS BDR team — helping shape our outbound and lead-development playbook from day one, with direct visibility to Sales and Marketing leadership and a clear path to grow within BDR and Sales as the team scales.
