Business Development Manager (Architecture & Design)

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team in the architecture and design industry. Interested candidates should submit a resume and a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and why they would be a strong fit for this role.

Key Responsibility (Performance Objective) :

With at least 5 years of experience in Business Development, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving growth and fostering long-term relationships with clients in the office and industrial building sectors. This individual will lead a small team of business development professionals and will be responsible for creating and executing strategic plans to expand the company’s client base and increase project opportunities. A strong communicator with the ability to engage senior leadership and C-level executives is a must.

Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of business development professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative environment to achieve targets and drive success.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring that their needs are met and that the company remains a trusted partner. This includes both office space and industrial building sectors.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans, identifying new opportunities in the market. Lead efforts to target key clients, present proposals, and close deals.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive virtual presentations to potential clients, senior leadership teams, and C-level executives, highlighting the company’s expertise in office space design and industrial projects.
  • Actively network with industry professionals, attend conferences, and build a strong presence within the architecture and design community in the Greater Toronto Area. Leverage existing relationships to expand business opportunities.
  • Drive the sales cycle for large-scale office and industrial building projects, collaborating with design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Work closely with senior management to communicate business development goals, progress, and strategies. Provide insights into market trends and competitor activities.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands to inform business strategies. Regularly report progress and results to senior leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, sales activities, and pipeline management using our CRM software.
  • Access our ERP project management system as required.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, preferably within the architecture, design, or construction industry.
  • Proven experience managing and leading a team of business development professionals.
  • Ability to engage with senior leadership and C-level executives, articulating business opportunities and presenting tailored solutions.
  • Strong experience in selling both office space and industrial building projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make high-level presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of the architecture and design industry, with a clear understanding of market trends and client needs.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with business development tools, CRM software, and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • A strong network of contacts within the Greater Toronto Area is an asset.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients.
