Job description

Location : Toronto, ON (Hybrid). Candidate is required to come to the office 3 days a week.

Position Type : Contract Position

Duration : 252 days + 250 days

Rate : $430 / day (CAD)

Must haves :

Demonstrated experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as waterfall and Agile, with a focus on iterative development and delivery, and proven ability to lead sprints.

Description

The Ministry seeks one (1) Business Analyst, Level 3, to join the Project Management & Program Delivery team, collaborating with the core project team, solution vendors, and stakeholders.

• Support during design, implementation, and testing phases.
• Report progress regularly, raise issues, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Lead or participate in solution development within MTO's Transportation Safety Division.
• Conduct feasibility analysis, project scoping, and provide estimates.
• Facilitate Joint Requirements Planning and Design sessions.
• Analyze and map current and future state processes/data.
• Develop requirements through elicitation, analysis, and validation.
• Use mandated tools and templates for requirements management.
• Review technical design documents and conduct walkthroughs.
• Knowledge transfer throughout the project stages.
• Report status to Project Manager or Lead Business Analyst.

Deliverables include (but are not limited to):

• Business Cases, Bids, Requirements, Process Models, Specifications, Glossary, Use Cases, User Stories, Backlogs, Plans, and other artefacts.

Support to Development and Test teams in areas like:

• Building/testing support, reviewing test strategies, managing defect logs, and defining test plans.

Skill Set Requirements

• Knowledge of SDLC, methodologies including Agile and Waterfall, and iterative development.
• Experience with Business Object Oriented Modeling, UML, and Public Sector architecture.
• Experience with system analysis, legacy systems, and modernization.
• Proficiency in documenting requirements, facilitating meetings, and progress reporting.
• Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (AODA) and user-centric design principles.
