Job Summary:

We are in search of Assistant Supervisors to join our Building Services supervisor team! This supervisory role leads and oversees the work of Facilities Technicians and Custodial staff, ensuring facilities are properly maintained for residence halls and dining locations. Qualified candidates should have previous custodial or maintenance experience. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus!

This position offers a generous benefits package, including state employee insurance and retirement, paid vacation, personal holiday, and sick leave. It is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with opportunities for overtime.

Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and inspect custodial staff work to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of property; assist in emergency planning and response.
  2. Utilize equipment and supplies to clean assigned areas and manage waste and recyclables.
  3. Monitor and secure facility entrances; report issues.
  4. Maintain organization of supply areas and equipment; document inventory; request supplies as needed.
  5. Report repairs, violations, and pest control needs.
  6. Ensure walkways are clear of debris, litter, snow, and ice.
  7. Assist in developing, scheduling, inspecting, and supervising operational work plans and staff.
  8. Participate in planning and implementing emergency and hazardous response policies.
  9. Develop and execute preventative maintenance for equipment and projects; conduct repairs as necessary.
  10. Respond to and resolve urgent issues related to elevators, mechanical systems, temperature, and safety in residence halls and dining units.
Tasks:
  • Lead and participate in team activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and plant staff.
  • Oversee building operations to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Assist with resident and guest move-in/out processes.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and guests via radio, phone, written, and in-person communication.
  • Address housing needs and service requests from residents.
  • Complete work in occupied and vacant spaces.
  • Provide and exemplify excellent customer service.
  • Drive vehicles for staff transportation, supply movement, and emergency response.
  • Use technology effectively to complete work tasks.
  • Manage equipment and supplies inventories.
  • Support emergency plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Police and Fire for safety concerns and alarms.
  • Supervise and train staff and student workers.
  • Ensure compliance with cleaning standards.
