Job Description:
Position Summary

Assist with identifying or verifying required maintenance work, interpreting contracts, scheduling and coordinating in-house or subcontractor work, and ensuring work meets contract specifications. Support the coordination and completion of all contract aspects in a timely, efficient, and profitable manner.

* Position start date will be in 2025.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure services provided meet approved performance standards.
  • Perform condition assessments of pavements, signs, guardrails, bridges, vegetation, and other contract requirements. Assist with scheduling and coordinating work.
  • Complete paperwork to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Develop and manage performance of all patrol staff.
  • Assist with managing, monitoring, and controlling highway project assets and materials.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work reports and timesheets.
  • Purchase supplies and maintain inventory within the patrol area.
  • Coordinate and track all required training for new hires and ongoing safety standards.
  • Assist with inspection, calibration, and repair of fleet.
  • Investigate and report all accidents/incidents.
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager and Health and Safety Manager on WSIB claims related to accidents/incidents.
  • Manage schedules for winter staff to ensure compliance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of basic math functions and calculations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, procedures, and contracts.
  • Effective communication skills with managers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to multitask, use resources effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and internet use.
  • Ability to follow safety instructions and operate tools and equipment safely.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience considered.
  • Minimum three years' experience in construction and/or road maintenance (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Work Conditions/Physical Demands

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Use of manual and powered tools and equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and field work.
  • Exposure to weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, humidity, and airborne particles.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and high noise levels.
