Role:
The Building Operator and Capital Project Coordinator has dual responsibilities. The Centre undertakes numerous infrastructure capital projects annually to maintain the facility. The incumbent can expect to spend approximately 40% of their time leading and executing various phases of multiple infrastructure projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout. The remaining time will be dedicated to building operations, ensuring proper maintenance and smooth functioning of the facility.

What You’ll Do
The following duties are typical; additional tasks may be assigned based on business needs.
Capital Project Coordination
- Assist in developing RFPs, RFQs, evaluate proposals, and recommend contract awards.
- Coordinate all phases of infrastructure capital projects, from planning to closure.
- Collaborate with internal teams and contractors.
- Manage permit applications and liaise with regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical support for project deliverables.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet performance criteria.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Track milestones and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Review invoices and manage budgets.
- Handle sensitive information and maintain proper documentation.
- Assist in preparing annual infrastructure budgets.
Building Operations
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, life safety systems, building automation, lighting, electrical, and plumbing.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance with contractors.
- Troubleshoot and prevent equipment failures.
- Ensure timely completion of work requests.
- Maintain pool water chemistry and understand pool operations.
- Keep mechanical areas tidy and safe.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Engage with guests positively.
- Perform general maintenance and snow removal as needed.
- Assist with moving equipment and assets.
What You Need
- Two years of experience in project coordination, engineering, consulting, or construction management.
- Two years of facility operations and maintenance experience.
- Minimum 5th Class Power Engineer certification.
- Proven experience in delivering and coordinating capital projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Good understanding of local building codes and network with HVAC/mechanical contractors.
- Troubleshooting skills and ability to develop positive relationships.
- Knowledge of building management systems (BMS).
- Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 is an asset; support for certification is provided.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Ability to work safely, independently, and participate in on-call schedules.
- Physical ability to perform job tasks, including lifting and working in confined spaces.
