Job summary

Mitchell Developments Ltd. in Saskatoon is seeking a reliable Building Operator to join our Property Management team.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, maintenance, and the safe, efficient functioning of commercial properties. This hands-on role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently while delivering excellent tenant service and coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in commercial building operations, facility maintenance, or a related field.
• Minimum Fireman's Certificate or higher certification and 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Experience with building automation and preventative maintenance systems is an asset.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work flexible hours as operational needs require.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, operate, and maintain building mechanical systems, including HVAC, boilers, pumps, and building automation systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and general building repairs.
• Troubleshoot and address mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other building maintenance issues.
• Monitor building systems and utility consumption to identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
• Conduct regular inspections of building equipment, common areas, and fire and life safety systems.
• Respond promptly and professionally to tenant inquiries, maintenance requests, and operational concerns.
• Coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to required standards.
• Assist with tenant improvements, renovations, and construction projects.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance with building policies and service agreements.
• Support leasing activities, including preparing vacant spaces for showings and occupancy.
