Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Building Envelope Student for a 4- or 8-month term starting January 2027. You will review design documents, participate in submittal reviews, meetings, and site/plant reviews to support envelope performance.

Ideal candidates have taken a building envelope or building science course and can read architectural drawings; basic drafting and Office software skills are expected. Compensation is hourly with offer based on experience.

Qualifications

• Candidate has taken a building envelope or building science course and understands fundamental control layers (air, water, vapour, thermal).
• Able to read architectural drawings; construction experience is a plus.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets and drafting software will be required.

We are seeking aBuilding Envelope Studentfor ourToronto District,within our Canadian Buildings Division who is available for4 month or 8 months starting January 2027.

Here’s how aBuilding Envelope Studentin our Toronto office contributes to the team:

Responsibilities

• Reviews design documents to identify potential building envelope performance issues
• Participates in the review of project submittals
• Participates in project meetings and first installation reviews
• Completes plant reviews, site reviews and/or deficiency walks
• Attends laboratory and field testing
• Assists with the development of remedial strategies for building envelope issues encountered by meeting with manufacturers, marking up details, and working collaboratively with the team members
• Prepares site review reports
• Contributes to the preparation of internal quality documents
• Promotes and coordinate building envelope events with external experts
• Meets with product suppliers to evaluate and obtain information on building envelope materials

Qualifications

• Candidates must have taken a building envelope or building science course, and understand the fundamental control layers required within the building envelope (i.e. air, water, vapour and thermal control)
• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment, able to read architectural drawings, and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

The estimated hourly range for this role is $21.37- $31.33, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
