Job summary

Purple Meadow in Ottawa is seeking a part-time Budtender to assist customers, verify IDs, and provide product guidance. The role emphasizes education, customer experience, and accurate POS handling in a fast-paced cannabis retail setting.

The ideal candidate has 1 year of customer service experience, knowledge of cannabis products, and can work nights, weekends, and holidays. Bilingual abilities are considered an asset; CannSell certification and background checks are required.

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience preferred within retail.
  • Cannabis product knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Check IDs to verify legal age.
  • Educate customers on safe use of cannabis products.
  • Advise customers on suitable products based on needs, preferences, budgets, and strains.
  • Stay up to date with new products and industry trends to advise customers.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Process transactions using the store POS system.
  • Ensure the shop floor is clean and organized.
  • Display products and restock after sales.
  • Maintain a clean and organized storefront.
  • Assist in inventory counts.
  • Support customers in-store and over the phone.
  • Process transactions and orders.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by store managers.

Available Job Types:

  • Part-time (21 - 28 hrs/week)

Salary: $ 17.60 - $19.00 per hour

  • Checking customers' identification documents to verify that they are of legal age.
  • Educating customers on the safe use of their selected cannabis products.
  • Advising customers on suitable cannabis products based on their needs, preferences, budgets, and reactions to different strains of cannabis.
  • Staying up to date with new cannabis products on the market as well as the latest industry trends to better advise the customers.
  • Provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Processing customers' payment transaction using the dispensary's Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Ensuring that the shop floor is always clean and well-organized.
  • Product display setup and restocking after sale.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store front.
  • Assisting in Inventory count.
  • Support, guide and answer questions throughout customers journey in store and over the phone.
  • Process transactions and orders.
  • Complete tasks as assigned by store managers.

  • Knowledge of cannabis strains and effects (is considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of accessories and consumption methods (is considered an asset).
  • Retail or service experience (prior cannabis industry experience is considered an asset)

  • Bi-lingual Candidates considered an asset*
  • Flexible availability required to work nights, weekends, holidays and peak summer season.
  • 2 recent references.
  • Estimated start date of work: As soon as possible or within 2 weeks of hire date.

Legal Requirements: (must be obtained if successful and valid prior to start date)

Experience:

  • Customer service: 1 year (preferred)
  • Cannabis Industry: 1 year (preferred)
  • Previous Budtender, and or Sales experience in a retail environment considered an asset.
