We are currently seeking a Billing Specialist to join our Vancouver team to support the Finance department. This role is ideal for a team player with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. The candidate should be capable of multitasking and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

1. Generate draft bills (prebill/proforma) for professional review.
2. Edit and revise bills based on professional requests, ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines and contracts.
3. Prepare invoices and distribute them to internal teams or clients via email or e-bill.
4. Provide supporting documentation for expenses (disbursements) as necessary.
5. Assist teammates during peak periods and coordinate with the accounting department to resolve billing issues.
6. Maintain and update Billing Information sheets.
7. Respond promptly to Client/Matter billing inquiries.
8. Ensure successful e-billing submissions to client portals (Bottomline, TyMetrix, CounselLink, CounselGo, etc.).
9. Analyze billing rejections, denials, and past-due accounts, working to resolve issues.
10. Manage file listings, follow up on missing budgets, and close files.
11. Prepare client reports as required.
12. Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable.
13. Respond timely to internal and external requests and inquiries.
14. Participate in ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in law firm billing.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Client-oriented and a team player.
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to excel in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of law firm billing processes and legal billing software (e.g., Elite or 3E) is highly desirable.

The salary range for this role is $50,000 - $60,000 per year.
