Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Billing Specialist to join our Vancouver team to support the Finance department. This role is ideal for a team player with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. Candidates should be able to multi-task and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate draft bills (prebill/proforma) for professional review.
• Make edits and revisions based on professional requests, ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines and contracts.
• Prepare invoices and distribute them to the internal team or clients via email or e-bill.
• Provide supporting documentation for expenses (disbursements) with invoices as necessary.
• Assist teammates during high-peak periods; coordinate with the accounting department to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain and update billing information sheets.
• Respond promptly to client/matter billing inquiries.
• Ensure successful e-billing submissions to client portals (Bottomline, TyMetrix, CounselLink, CounselGo, etc.).
• Analyze billing rejections, denials, and past-due accounts; work to resolve outstanding issues.
• Manage file listings, follow up on missing budgets, and close files.
• Prepare client reports as required.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable as necessary.
• Respond timely to internal and external requests and inquiries.
• Participate in ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience in law firm billing.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Client-focused and a team player.
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of law firm billing processes and legal billing software (e.g., Elite or 3E) is highly desirable.

Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year.
