Job summary

Hard Rock Ottawa Hotel & Casino is seeking a Bar Porter to support bartenders, maintain cleanliness, stock supplies, and ensure a guest-ready bar area in a fast-paced casino setting.

We require at least 1 year of experience as a bar porter or bar back in a high-volume venue, plus knowledge of beverages, glassware and garnishes. AGCO License and Smart Serve certification are required.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a bar porter or bar back in a casino, high-volume nightclub or high-volume restaurant preferred.
• Must have knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes.
• Licensing requirements include AGCO License and Smart Serve Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and acknowledge guests with a smile, greeting by name when possible.
• Clean bar area, tops, sinks, glasses, refrigerators and bar appliances.
• Ensure bar is set properly and stock with products and supplies.
• Prepare all mixes and garnishes and assist bartenders as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout the shift.
• Notify management of maintenance issues and complete requests from leadership.
• Provide accurate information and guide guests to areas and restrooms, creating memorable experiences.

OVERVIEW:

The Bar Porter plays a key support role in ensuring the efficient operation of casino bar outlets by maintaining cleanliness, stocking supplies, and assisting bartenders in delivering exceptional guest service. This position is responsible for replenishing beverages, glassware, ice, and bar supplies; maintaining sanitary standards; and ensuring bar areas remain organized, fully stocked, and guest-ready at all times. The Bar Porter works in a fast-paced environment and collaborates closely with bartenders, servers, and other team members to support seamless service while adhering to all health, safety, and responsible service regulations. A commitment to teamwork, attention to detail, and delivering an outstanding guest experience is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using the guest\'s name when possible
• Cleans bar area, including bar tops, sinks, glasses, refrigerators, coolers and other bar appliances in accordance with Hard Rock policies.
• Ensures bar is set properly.
• Ensures all soda gun products, fruit garnishes, and mixes meets service standards.
• Stocks assigned bar with product and supplies throughout the shift.
• Prepares all mixes and garnishes.
• Thank guests with genuine appreciation and provide a fond farewell.
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the shift.
• Notify management of maintenance repair issues relating to the bar and service area.
• Complete any additional reasonable requests by management.
• Demonstrates impeccable product knowledge.
• Answer questions - accurately and politely.
• Direct guests to areas & restrooms.
• Create memorable experiences.
• Entertain guests with AMPLIFIED SERVICE.

EXPIERENCE, EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a bar porter and/or bar back in a casino, high-volume nightclub or high-volume restaurant preferred.
• Must have knowledge of beverages, glassware, and garnishes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk distances.
• The employee must frequently lift/push/pull and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties and responsibilities are typically performed in a highly regulated and controlled environment, but there will be times where you will need to be on the Casino Floor to complete job functions as outlined or pass through this area. On the Casino Floor, you may be exposed to casino-related environmental factors including, but not limited to, excessive noise.
