Job summary

Carleton Dining Services on Carleton University campus is seeking a Banquet Captain to coordinate daily catering requirements and event setup for internal and external clients. The role reports to the Catering Manager and ensures quality food and service from start to finish.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of catering experience, strong organizational and people-management skills, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years catering experience/background
• Perform well under pressure; manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Strong organizational skills
• Effective team management experience
• Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to lift 50lbs and push/pull 100lbs
• Smart Serve Certification
• Valid Driver’s License
• Drivers Abstract will be requested

Responsibilities

• Coordinate catering functions and special events for internal and external clients/groups
• Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards
• Responsible for the execution of the function/event from beginning to end
• Supervise staff, including agency staff if required
• Conduct pre-shift rally/meetings
• Provide clear instructions to staff; ensuring tasks are completed in a timely manner and according to customer expectations
• Assure quality, courteous service is provided to customers at all times
• In conjunction with the Assistant Manager, train staff on job duties and Aramark catering standards
• Operate automobiles, vans and light trucks to deliver and pick up food items, while ensuring safety standards are continually practiced and adhered to
• Ensure catering room is kept in an organized and clean fashion
• Ensure adherence to all of Aramark Policies and Procedures
• May perform other job duties as required
