Job summary

Uncle Tetsu Canada is seeking a full-time Baker to join our team at the Metropolis at Metrotown and Robson St locations in Vancouver, BC. This role combines bakery production with customer service responsibilities to ensure high product quality and a welcoming guest experience.

The successful candidate will bake specialty products following our recipes, assist with opening and closing procedures, manage ingredients and inventory, and provide friendly service at the register.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts, Baking, or Pastry (1–2 years).
• Minimum 1 year of baking or food production experience.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Baker to join our team at our Metropolis at Metrotown and Robson St locations in Vancouver. This role combines bakery production with customer service responsibilities, ensuring both high product quality and a welcoming guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Bakery Production

• Prepare and bake Uncle Tetsu's specialty products following company recipes and procedures
• Scale and prepare ingredients for daily production
• Assist with bakery opening and closing procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bakery equipment and work areas

Store Operations

• Stock ingredients, packaging, and supplies
• Assist with inventory monitoring and control
• Maintain bakery equipment and ensure proper sanitation

Customer Service

• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Process customer transactions at the register
• Assist customers with product selection and inquiries

Qualifications

Education

• College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma (1 to 2 year program), preferably in Culinary Arts, Baking, or Pastry

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of baking or food production experience

Skills & Requirements

• Knowledge of baking techniques, terminology, and production processes
• Ability to prepare specialty baked goods
• Ability to troubleshoot or identify bakery production issues
• Experience with Japanese ingredients or traditional Japanese pastries is an asset
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and warmer kitchen conditions
• Must be able to lift up to 25 kg and stand for extended periods
• Punctual and reliable

Additional Assets

• Food Handler Certificate (required for future advancement)
• Currently residing within a commutable distance to the workplace

Work Schedule

• Full-time position
• Shifts may start as early as 7:00 AM and end as late as 10:00 PM, depending on store needs
• Must be available to work statutory holidays
• At least one closing shift per week
• At least one weekend shift per week (Saturday or Sunday)
• $17.85 per hour
