Job description

CAA Atlantic is recruiting a skilled and dedicated Automotive Service Technician to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our fleet operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our roadside and corporate fleet. This is a Monday - Friday position based out of our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location, with standard work hours from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Fleet Mechanic will report directly to the Fleet Operations Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Safely perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
  2. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, prioritizing a safe working environment.
  3. Communicate effectively with management during repairs or maintenance.
  4. Strive to exceed industry standards with quality workmanship.
  5. Perform daily shop inspections for cleanliness and safety.
  6. Maintain fleet maintenance schedules and logs.
  7. Conduct diagnostics, tire repairs, oil changes, electrical repairs, chassis, engine, transmission, and drivetrain repairs, as well as fabrication and welding.
  8. Manage parts inventory for shop and fleet needs.
  9. Provide roadside assistance when required.
  10. Maintain shop cleanliness, including snow removal and salting.
  11. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient fleet operation.
  12. Respond promptly to driver repair requests and perform pre- and post-trip checks.
  13. Work flexible shifts and travel to remote fleet locations as needed.
Qualifications
  • Journeyman certification in Automotive or Commercial Truck (Red Seal). Level 4 Apprentice considered.
  • Class 5 Driver's License; Class 3 with Air is an asset.
  • NS Inspection license or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
