Founded in 2023, 2K Sports Lab is the newest stand‑alone studio at 2K looking to push game development boundaries to bring 2K’s next groundbreaking sports franchise to life. We’re building a world‑class team at our new Vancouver, BC location where our goal is to deliver an exceptional experience through bold ideas, technical excellence, and creative collaboration. We’re seeking passionate and driven professionals across all areas of game development to help shape this ambitious vision.

What We Need

We’re looking for a Game Designer – Audio with a huge passion for sports and sports video games. You’ll work closely with the Audio Director to define the audio experience and lead a team of Software Engineers, Sound Designers, and voice talents to bring that vision to life. Your goal will be to deliver an authentic sports atmosphere that tells rich stories and amplifies player emotions.

What You’ll Do
  • Research and write detailed design documents and Feature Briefs for commentary, PA, player barks, crowd reactions, gameplay SFX, and other audio systems, sourcing and editing video references to support your design.
  • Lead a team of Software Engineers and Sound Designers on the audio vision outlined in your feature briefs, providing feedback, driving quality, organizing group listening sessions, and documenting issues in Jira.
  • Support the creation of scripts for commentators, announcers, and other voice talents, and direct voice recordings, which may require occasional travel.
  • Foster strong relationships with other teams, proactively manage audio dependencies, ensure alignment, and resolve challenges.
  • Work with Production partners to prioritize, track, and plan tasks within Jira.
  • Stay current on sports and video game trends, identifying strengths and weaknesses of our audio design versus competitors.
  • Represent the Audio team in meetings to showcase progress and achievements.

Beneficial Qualifications

  • Proven experience writing design documents and scripts, and directing voice talent.
  • Familiarity with programming or QA workflows and Jira.
  • Exposure to in‑engine tools or audio middleware such as Wwise or FMOD is a plus, though this role is primarily out of engine.

The pay range for this position in British Columbia at the start of employment is expected to be between CAD $60,700 and CAD $89,860 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(k) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full‑time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness‑related expenses.
