Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Atlantic Discipline Leader to shape and grow our Mine Water practice across Atlantic Canada. You will lead surface water and integrated mine water management, mentoring professionals and influencing standards while engaging with Mining and Environmental Services leaders.

The role requires senior leadership across project phases, from exploration through closure, and a strong track record in regulatory navigation and water treatment technologies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of progressive mine water management experience in consulting or mining.
• Experience leading environmental assessments, feasibility studies, and closure projects.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary technical teams across projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in mine water management for Atlantic Canada projects.
• Lead development and review of integrated water balance models for maritime climates.
• Oversee design and evaluation of water management infrastructure (diversions, ponds, pumping, treatment).
• Support clients in meeting regulatory requirements (permits, approvals, EA commitments).
• Provide expertise in ARD/ML prediction, prevention, and long-term management strategies.
• Mentor mine water professionals and foster knowledge sharing within the region.
• Lead as Technical Lead, Discipline Lead, SME, or Senior Reviewer on complex mining projects.
• Support strategic pursuits and client engagement with regional leadership.
