Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Applied Psychology at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University, New Brunswick is seeking an outstanding candidate for a non-tenure track, assistant teaching professor position to teach psychology courses, mentor students, and coordinate our psychology and addiction practicums.

Position Information

Recruitment/Posting Title: Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Track)

The new faculty member will be expected to teach courses in our Master of Applied Psychology (MAP) program and contribute to student training at the master’s level. This faculty will also provide oversight of all psychology and addiction practicum placements, including vetting and developing relationships with potential practicum sites, onboarding approved sites, and monitoring quality assurance to ensure exceptional student fieldwork experiences. The faculty member will work effectively with a team of highly dedicated faculty members within the Department, GSAPP, Rutgers University, and the broader academic and professional community.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  1. Have a doctorate in psychology, or a related area of science.
  2. Two-three years of teaching at an undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  3. Licensure in the field of mental health (e.g., psychology, LPC, LCSW).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  2. Ability to be flexible and work in an environment of expansion and change.
  3. Established mentorship of graduate students.
  4. Teach psychology courses.
  5. Serve as faculty advisor/mentor to students, coordinate and evaluate academic advising of students.
  6. Identify and vet new practicum sites.
  7. Monitor quality assurance of current practicum sites.

Salary, start-up, and other considerations are consistent with Rutgers’ commitment to attract exceptional individuals. The new faculty member will start Fall 2025.
