Job summary

Leavitt Machinery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is seeking an Assistant Service Manager to lead the local Service department, drive performance, and strengthen customer accounts.

You will manage staff development, partner with HR, lead Lean initiatives, oversee fleet maintenance, and ensure safety and profitability while delivering excellent service.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience required with supervisory duties.
  • Post-secondary education preferred in business/disciplines related to the role.
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage performance and development of the Service Department staff.
  • Partner with Human Resources on labour-related issues.
  • Lead or support Lean initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Proactively manage the Service fleet for purchases, replacements, and maintenance.
  • Conduct weekly toolbox meetings with Parts and Service teams.
  • Develop and grow key customer accounts while pursuing new business.
  • Address customer service issues and disputes.
  • Monitor KPIs for the Service Department.
  • Analyze financial statements to improve profitability.
  • Drive safety initiatives and ensure compliance.

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for an Assistant Service Manager to join our team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As the Assistant Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the performance of the local Service department.

As the Assistant Service Manager your key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the performance and development of the Service Department staff. This includes driving accountability of the team members, staffing the department appropriately and facilitating proper training
  • Partner with the Human Resources department on labour related and sensitive personnel issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by leading or supporting LEAN initiatives, improving the overall efficiency of the department
  • Proactively manage the Service fleet as it relates to vehicle purchases, replacements, repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct weekly toolbox meetings with the local Parts and Service teams
  • Work in partnership with other Internal Business Units to develop and grow key customer accounts while generating new business and revenue streams
  • Actively addresses customer service issues and customer disputes
  • Closely manage Key Performance Indicators that relate to the Service Department
  • Strategically analyze financial statements, utilizing them as a tool to drive the profitability of the department
  • Advocate and drive compliance on all corporate safety initiatives, policies, and programs
Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • Previous leadership experience required, including at least 5 years of prior supervisory experience
  • Post-secondary education in Sales, Business, Management, or a related discipline preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery or materials handling equipment is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Superior skills in organization and planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma considered an asset
  • Adept at multitasking and managing conflicting priorities
  • Confident self-starter and team player

The base pay range for this role is: $83,600 to $104,500 per year, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
