Job summary

Leavitt Machinery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is seeking a Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment Mechanic) to perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of material handling equipment. The role is on-site with a focus on timely diagnostics, repair options, and proactive maintenance opportunities.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of heavy equipment repair experience and a valid Red Seal or journeyperson ticket, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of heavy equipment repair experience in a related industry.
  • Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification.
  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
  • A valid air brake ticket is an asset.
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Performing mechanical maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
  • Diagnosing and completing equipment repairs in a timely manner, providing a variety of repair options that best meet customer needs
  • Tracking parts for ongoing service jobs
  • Completing work order forms
  • Communicating with the Shop Coordinator, Shop Lead, Service Manager, and Technical Support Center regarding service jobs and repair needs
  • Proactively identifying maintenance and repair opportunities for equipment

Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment Mechanic)

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a mechanically inclined Shop Technician (Heavy Equipment Mechanic) to join our team in Saskataoon, Saskatchewan. As the Shop Technician, you will be responsible for completing a variety of heavy equipment repair tasks required by our loyal customers.

As the Shop Technician your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing mechanical maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
  • Diagnosing and completing equipment repairs in a timely manner, providing a variety of repair options that best meet customer needs
  • Tracking parts for ongoing service jobs
  • Completing work order forms
  • Communicating with the Shop Coordinator, Shop Lead, Service Manager, and Technical Support Center regarding service jobs and repair needs
  • Proactively identifying maintenance and repair opportunities for equipment
  • Following established warranty processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • At least 3 years of heavy equipment repair experience in a related industry
  • Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification
  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset

The base pay range for this role is: $40.00 to $47.00 per hour, depending on experience.

This is an onsite role based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
