Assistant Professor, Neuroscience, Department of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology

Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in theDepartment of Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology(APP) at the University of Saskatchewan, to begin January 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will have a PhD degree with a focus on any area of neuroscience and post-doctoral experience in a related research field. Key selection criteria will include research excellence, originality, and potential for research impact. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program and be able to complement the research strengths of other APP faculty members. Areas of research strength in APP include neurophysiology, molecular and cellular neuroscience, neurodegenerative disorders and repair, behavioural neuroscience, and systems neuroscience. Expertise in one of these areas will be considered an asset, but candidates from other research areas will be considered. The selected candidate will also contribute to teaching of undergraduates in our Biomedical Neuroscience Program (https://programs.usask.ca/arts-and-science/biomedical-neuroscience/index.php) and to the teaching and mentoring of students in the APP Graduate Program (https://grad.usask.ca/programs/anatomy-physiology-pharmacology.php).

Laboratory space for this position will be located within the University of Saskatchewan's Neuroscience Cluster (https://neuroscience.usask.ca/), a multidisciplinary research community that includes members from the Colleges of Medicine, Arts and Science, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy and Nutrition, and Kinesiology. Additional neuroscience researchers are based at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (https://wcvm.usask.ca/) and the Cameco MS Neuroscience Research Centre (https://medicine.usask.ca/centres/cameco.php). The University of Saskatchewan campus also hosts two major research facilities: the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization–International Vaccine Centre (https://www.vido.org/), a global leader in infectious disease and vaccine research, and the Canadian Light Source (https://www.lightsource.ca/), Canada’s only synchrotron and a hub for cutting-edge structural and molecular research.

The starting salary bands for the 2025-2026 academic year are as follows:
Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,909; Associate Professor: $131,909 to $153,329; and Professor $153,329 to $178,319 with a higher starting salary in rare and exceptional circumstances pursuant to Article 18.2.6.12 of the2023-2027 USFA Collective Agreement.
