Job summary

Nipissing University in North Bay is seeking an Assistant Laboratory Technologist to support undergraduate chemistry and biology labs. You will assist with lab prep, equipment setup, and maintaining clean, orderly spaces under supervision.

As a NUWorks student, you will work September 2026 to April 2027, averaging 5 hours per week (up to 20). Pay is $17.60/hour plus vacation pay in accordance with the ESA.

• Able to adapt to changing priorities and work well under pressure.
• Previous lab experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• The Assistant Laboratory Technologist will assist with laboratory preparations for undergraduate chemistry and biology labs.
• Lecturing? Correction: set up equipment, materials and chemical reagents as well as maintaining cleanliness and order of lab spaces.
• Laboratory Technologist will work alongside the assistant and train the student on all duties.
• Reading lab preparatory notes to understand, anticipate and talk with the technologist about laboratory set-up.
• Communicating with technologist on tasks requiring attention.
• Able to change tasks to respond to changing priorities.
• Assembling equipment, tools and supplies required for labs.
• Dissembling equipment and lab set-up and putting items away.
• Clean up lab, equipment, supplies, and glassware.
