Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services, and Palliative Care. We are looking for an Assistant Head Nurse – Team Lead to join our Home Living team to provide professional support services in the homes of clients of all ages and stages of life. This position provides clinical leadership within the operational framework of Continuing Care. The Team Lead assists with consultation and coordination of daily operations, providing mentorship and support to the nursing staff. This role leads day-to-day operations, evidence-based practice, quality client care, liaising with stakeholders, triaging client care, and coordinating outcome-based practices.
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow, and acting as a role model, clinical resource, and advocate for nursing staff. You will provide frontline nursing care as needed and take a leadership role in promoting quality patient care and implementing operational priorities. Your knowledge, judgment, and clinical experience will help solve complex healthcare issues at all levels, working with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators, and policymakers. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care, reflecting AHS's shared vision and values.
Completion of an accredited nursing education program, active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), and current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, 5-7 years of experience in Continuing Care, excellent organizational skills, familiarity with Meditech and case management principles, strong communication and assessment skills, risk management ability, and computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated leadership or management experience, ability to work independently and in teams, resilience under stress, experience with change management, and initiative in implementing new programs.
