Alberta Health Services is searching for an Assistant Health Nurse (AHN) to join our Communicable Disease Control (CDC) - Guidance & Training team. Reporting to the Associate Manager, Guidance & Training, this position provides support to the provincial CDC program by leading the development and maintenance of CDC guidance documents and resources, such as public health investigations, immunization, outbreak management, and blood and body fluid exposure protocols, as mandated under the Alberta Public Health Act. The role includes developing, implementing, and facilitating training and resources for staff, requiring leadership and mentorship skills to support health providers in complex clinical situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and external partners. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CDC software applications (CD/OM, Connect Care, Netcare) is required. The AHN demonstrates initiative, strong time management, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This is a remote position with occasional travel to designated CDC sites.
Responsibilities include staff management, patient flow, acting as a role model and clinical resource, and advocating for nursing staff. The role involves frontline nursing care and leadership in promoting quality patient care and operational priorities. The candidate will utilize advanced judgment and clinical experience to address complex healthcare issues, ensuring safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS values.
