Island Health is seeking a Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse to provide autonomous patient care in remote communities. This role requires a commitment to culturally sensitive practices and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must hold relevant nursing certifications and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

The Remote Certified Primary Care Nurse practices autonomously within an extended scope of practice defined by various regulatory guidelines, including provincial legislation, BC College of Nurses and Midwives standards, Island Health policies, and individual nurse competencies.
This role involves working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide direct patient care and participate in health promotion activities for individuals and groups in remote communities. The care approach must be community and culturally sensitive, focusing on maintaining or achieving optimal health through disease prevention, chronic disease management, and acute care across the lifespan. Responsibilities include emergency assessment, treatment and palliation of illnesses and injuries, health status assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions, and coordinating health services.
Travel may be required, and transportation arrangements must meet Island Health operational requirements, potentially involving the use of a personal vehicle.
