Job summary

Wright Canada Holdings Ltd. is seeking a Camp Cook to prepare nutritious meals and support the Head Cook in a remote tree-planting camp. You will assist with daily meal service, packing, inventory, and camp kitchen setup, while ensuring food safety and OH&S compliance.

Travel between work sites is required, and you will help maintain cleanliness across kitchens, dining tents, showers, washrooms, and common areas in challenging outdoor conditions. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • No formal culinary training is required; eagerness to learn and interest in cooking are valued.
  • 2 years of tree-planting experience preferred.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License and clean driver's abstract preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutrient-dense meals for remote camp to support physical demands.
  • Assist Head Cook with kitchen operations and delegated tasks.
  • Manage daily meal service including breakfast, lunch, and dinner with clean, timely service.
  • Drive to pick up food orders and assist with inventory.
  • Set up and take down kitchen and dining tents; maintain sanitation and food safety.
  • Ensure OH&S compliance and maintain cleanliness of kitchen, camp showers, tents, and common areas.
  • Travel between work sites as required; stay on duty during emergencies if needed.
  • Operate camp equipment and support logistics to keep camp running smoothly.

Spectrum Resource GroupEssential Job Duties:Prepare nutrient‑dense meals to support the physical demands of tree‑planting work.Support the Head Cook with all kitchen operations and delegated tasks.Assist with daily meal service, including breakfast, lunch table, block treats, and dinner.Drive to pick up food orders and assist with kitchen inventory management.Facilitate kitchen and dining tent setup and take down.Ensure the kitchen and dining tent meet regulations at all times.Implement and follow food safety management practices.Apply knowledge of tree‑planting operations to anticipate planter needs and support efficient camp workflows, contributing to a well‑organized and responsive camp environment.Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas.Support overall camp cleanliness, including maintaining showers, tents, washroom facilities, and common areas.Organize equipment before, during, and after shifts.Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.Ensure the camp exceeds company standards and OH&S compliance.Comply with applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures.Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Spectrum and Wright Canada Holdings culture of safety and employee ownership.Other Duties:Position will require travel to, from and between work sites.During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.Operate trucks and ATVs.Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements:(Knowledge – Comprehension of a body of information acquired by experience or study.
