Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Early Learning Centre, including budgeting, scheduling, and enrollment.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and manage staff issues.
  • Assist in implementing the Métis Curriculum with play-based and exploratory learning.
  • Coordinate with MN-S Early Learning and Childcare for updates and reports.
  • Maintain relationships with families through clear communication.
  • Collaborate with MN-S staff, Citizens, and contractors to support program delivery.
  • Represent the MN-S Early Learning Centre at community events.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate staff performance and programming.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and childcare regulations.
  • Address parent concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Support enrollment and ensure documentation is complete.
  • Maintain facility and program records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION TITLE: Assistant Center Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Early Learning and Child Care

CLASSIFICATION: MGO-05

SALARY RANGE: Starting at $58,366.00 Per Annum

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

LOCATION: Prince Albert

Brief Overview:

This position involves in assisting in overseeing a newly licensed 90-space early learning center (infants to preschool) with a Métis-specific curriculum. Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential. Knowledge of Métis culture and experience working with Métis communities is an asset. This is a key role with the opportunity to shape the future of the center and positively impact the community.

The Assistant Center Supervisor will assist in oversee all operations of the Early Learning Center, including staff management, programming, and ensuring a safe, enriching environment for children. This role involves collaboration with MN-S Early Learning and Childcare and requires experience in Early Childhood Education, childcare licensing, and familiarity with relevant ministry policies and documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Early Learning Centre, including budgeting, scheduling, and enrollment.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment and effectively manage any staff-related issues.
  • Assist the Supervisor in ensuring consistent implementation of the Métis Curriculum, incorporating daily play-based and exploratory learning.
  • Collaborate closely with the MN-S Childcare Coordinator to provide regular updates and reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with families through clear and consistent communication.
  • Work collaboratively with MN-S staff, Citizens, and contractors to support program delivery and community engagement.
  • Represent the MN-S Early Learning Centre at community events and activities.
  • Assist in supervising, supporting, and evaluating staff performance and programming to ensure high-quality care and education.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and all applicable childcare regulations.
  • Support the Supervisor in addressing parent concerns and complaints in a timely, professional manner.
  • Support the enrollment of children, ensuring required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain accurate and organized facility and program records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ensure the provision of quality childcare services that fulfill the philosophy of MNS.
  • Provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can develop to their potential: physically, emotionally, intellectually, socially and creatively.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development and children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
  • Well-developed administrative, analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety, Workers Compensation Board, and Public Health.
  • Ability to use computer programming such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and social media platforms.
Qualifications:
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level 3 required.
  • 2 years experience in assisting in the supervision 10-15+ employees, trainees and volunteers
  • Knowledge of Metis Culture and experience working with Metis people would be an asset.
  • CPR-C and First Aid
  • Food Safe is an asset
Additional requirements:
  • A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to our downtown location would be required.
  • The successful candidate must undergo a Criminal Record Check and the Vulnerable Sector.
  • The Travel requirement for this position is 10%
